Iconic heirloom quilt wall-hanging designed and hand-sewn in Boykin, Alabama. Handcrafted following the Gee's Bend quilting tradition that goes back three generations of Black women artists.
Hand sewn using cotton fabric. Preserve your quilt for generations to come by washing on a gentle cycle or hand washing it in cold water using a gentle, mild detergent.
Emma’s Lovely Treasures are handmade by legacy Gee’s Bend Quilter Emma Mooney Pettway, a descendant of generations of world-renowned quilters. Gee’s Bend, a.k.a Boyin, Alabama, is a rural community in Alabama's Black Belt founded mainly by descendants of enslaved Africans, where quiltmakers have produced countless patchwork masterpieces, crucial additions to American art history. Gee’s Bend quilts carry forward a proud tradition, yet represent only a part of the rich body of African American quilts. Pettway, who still resides in Gee’s Bend, produces her own style of quilts using cotton and relying on the nine-patch style, infusing each piece with a sense of love and unique beauty.
